Brown ShrikeThe Brown Shrike is a bird of the shrike family found mainly in Asia. Like other shrikes, it carries a distinctive ‘bandit mask’ through the eye. The bird is found mainly perched on bushes overlooking open scrubs in search of prey. The bird is mainly brown with its tail rounded. The black mask has a white brow over it. Females mask are more of brown in color and are not well marked. The birds feed mainly on insects. Saw this fellow at Valparai, a part of Annamalai Tiger Reserve. |
