Dhole pack @ Bandipur part IIAs we sighted this pack, I noticed that the pack was spread out in three to four bunches. Now and then one of the pack members would walk over to another bunch and would assert his dominance over it. The way this behavior happened was superb to watch with my own eyes. The dominant member would climb over the other and slowly rub his body. Initially I mistook this behavior to be a mating ritual. It was only later ascertained by another senior naturalist that my guess that it was pack social behaviour. The whole interaction of the two members was about a minute or so. A couple of other movements also occurred which I found pretty interesting. Continued in next. 1 comment to Dhole pack @ Bandipur part II |
